How To Create New Income Streams In Under 10 Minutes

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

A few weeks ago I wrote an article on how to stay in business and get clients during an economic downturn. One of the recommendations I made in that article was to create products, such as e-books, classes, audio, seminars and more that you can offer for sale to those who don’t want to spend the money on your services.

Your products cost less than your services, so when your potential customers are not willing to spend money on your services during the downturn, you can offer them your products. This way, both of you win! Your potential customers will still get help that they need and you can still make money with your knowledge.

The products will also help you create multiple streams of income for your business, so that you do not have to rely just on your services to bring in revenue.

After that article came out, I have been getting many e-mails from readers. Quite a few of you asked
me what to do if you are not ready to create products yet, but you do want to create multiple streams of income in your business.

The answer is to use someone else’s products through an affiliate program.

So how do you pick affiliate programs to join? Here are some tips:

- Pick an affiliate program with many different products that will be of interest to your target market.

- It is even better if you already used a few of those products, because that way you will be able to recommend them.

- Join that program, learn a bit about the products, and start promoting them.

Need an affiliate program to join? I would love for you to join my affiliate program and use my popular products to create passive income streams for your business. You can sign up for my affiliate program absolutely FREE and for every sale that you refer you will earn 40% commissions. Register for the affiliate program, FREE, at

And when you register for the affiliate program you will also receive an invitation to a no charge training session I am doing for my affiliates on May 6th. I will teach you about which products to promote and how to promote them, so that you can save time and not have to learn everything on your own.

Can A Coach Make Money With Affiliate Marketing?

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Should you use affiliate marketing to supplement your coaching income? Can you make money in affiliate marketing?

I have done a lot of consulting in the affiliate marketing field - I consulted both business owners who want to create and run an affiliate program and people who want to use affiliate programs to make money with them.
It is possible to make money in affiliate marketing, but you have to treat it just like any other business and promote it just like any other business.

By this I mean:

- Create an effective web site around a particular topic or around a particular target market.

- Use affiliate products that are relevant to the topic of the web site. If your web site is about coaching, you will need coaching products. If your web site
is about gardening, use gardening products, etc.

- Drive traffic specifically to SELL your affiliate products. Since you are only making money when you sell, you need to structure your marketing campaigns and bring in traffic that will actually buy from you.

Just listing links to books, ebooks, or any other products will not sell much. You need to actively market the web site and affiliate products in order to bring in the sales.

This is why I usually recommend to my clients who want to get into affiliate marketing to create a whole new web site where they promote the affiliate products.

It is fine to list book recommendations on your coaching web site, but since your main web site is about you and your services, you are not free to promote the affiliate products that much.

When you create a web site that is all about promoting affiliate products only, you are much freer to experiment with different marketing techniques and make more money as a result.

I run an affiliate program for my own products, and the affiliates who make the most money with my products are the ones who spend the time on using different online marketing techniques to promote them.

Affiliate Marketing For Solopreneurs

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Do you use affiliate marketing to promote your ebooks, reports and other products?

I love affiliate marketing — it is a great way to introduce my products to more customers, while rewarding those who do the introduction. My affiliates earn money, every time they make a sale, which makes this arrangement a win-win situation for all of us.

Affiliate marketing works very simply — my affiliates register for my affiliate program at no cost to them. When they register, they receive a special link, encoded with their affiliate id, that they can use to promote my products. When someone makes a purchase through their affiliate link, they receive commissions.

There are many different ways to set up an affiliate program for your products and services. You can do that by using your existing shopping cart (some shopping cart software already comes with affiliate program included), or you can purchase separate software specifically to run your affiliate program.

Want to know how to use your affiliate program to sell more products? Tomorrow I will be presenting How To Sell More Of Your Products And Services Using Affiliate Marketing Teleseminar during the ACCPOW Coaching Telesummit, and I would love for you to join us!

How To Sell More Of Your Ebooks

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Want to sell more ebooks online? I find that the same marketing techniques that work for promoting your web site and services work for promoting ebooks and other products:

- Create good, persuasive copy. A good sales letter for your ebook can dramatically increase your sales. Make sure you tout the benefits of the product in the sales letter.

- Search engine optimization - make sure you optimize your ebook page with relevant keywords. A lot of people use search engines to locate products they want to buy; make sure you can get some of that traffic to your web site.

- Article writing and publishing. Write articles of interest to your target market, and create a powerful Resource Box to promote your ebook. I find this to be a great way to promote my ebooks and other products.

- Affiliate Marketing. Create a profitable affiliate program that encourages your affiliates to recommend and promote your products on their blogs and web sites.

Is Coaching Shifting to Multiple Streams of Income?

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

There is definitely a shift from just one-on-one coaching to one-on-one coaching + products approach. This is the approach I use and the approach I teach to my own clients, many of who are coaches.

Here are a few reasons why:

- There is a finite number of hours in a week, and this number of hours limits the number of one-on-one clients I can take on. And remember, working with someone one-on-one is not just the coaching time. I also spend the time to prepare for every session. I also provide unlimited e-mail support in-between sessions. All of this takes time.

- I want to help as many people as possible, and that is just not possible if I were to offer one-on-one coaching only. Again, there are just so many hours I can spend working, which limits the number of people I can work with.

- Not all of my clients can afford the one-on-one rates, but many more can afford my teleseminars, e-books and group online business coaching program. Therefore by offering the products, I am helping more people and am able to bring in more revenue.

- Reaching more people really helps me in the long run. My one-on-one clients refer people who buy my products, and someone who bought my e-book a while ago referred a potential coaching client.

- My products help me create marketing opportunities with others - through joint teleseminars, my affiliate program, and lots of other cooperative marketing opportunities and events. I would not be able to do lots of these things (and bring in revenue!) if I only had my one-on-one coaching to offer.

I enjoy one-on-one work I do, and I love to see my clients succeed. But having products helps me have more flexible hours, not work as much, and help many more people.

Home Based Businesses

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Recently many people have been looking to start a home based business. Whether you are just looking for an extra income to pay off a few bills, or a new full time career, there are some things to consider.

A business is a business. Whether it is online, home based, brick and mortar or any other form of business, you have to work hard to get your business to be successful. You have to know how to market, do your own PR, do business development and handle everything from sales to business development.

If you are starting a business for profit, and not as a hobby, you need to be able to have adequate time to spend working on your business. There are many things that go into running a successful business, and you need to know how to do them and do them right.

Here are things to consider, as you are starting your business:

- Do your homework. If a business opportunity sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Do your research, ask as many questions as you can and find out as much information as possible, before signing on the dotted line.

- Interested in selling others’ products? If yes, then a sales job with a direct sales company or affiliate marketing might be something you want to explore. You set your own hours, and you sell products that already have brand name recognition. To sell very popular AvocadoConsulting.com ebooks, audio recordings and special reports, join the AvocadoConsulting.com Affiliate Program.

The downside is that the companies usually have sale minimums you have to meet every month, and, since the brands are so recognizable, there is a lot of competition. Still, if you are good in sales and love the products, you will be able to succeed.

Tupperware, Avon, all of these are direct sales companies, and you can usually sign up and start selling their products really fast. Search for them on your favorite search engine.

- Do you want to run your own business, sell your own products or services? Do you have a passion for something? Maybe you loved what you did at one of your old jobs, or have a hobby that you could turn into a business. Explore turning your passion into a business; it is great to do what you love for a living.

The upside is that it is your product, and you know it and you love it. The downside is that you have no brand recognition – you are starting everything, including marketing, from scratch.

Consider all of the different options available to you before making a decision about starting your business. It will save you a lot of time and money in the long run. Good luck!

Multiple Income Streams For Coaches

Friday, August 4th, 2006

I was recently asked about multiple streams of income for coaches. Creating multiple streams of income is a passion of mine, and something that I teach to my clients. I think that different income streams is the best way to leverage your time and earn more money. Many streams are about packaging your knowledge into different Here are a few diffent income streams that I recommend to my clients:

- Ebooks and Special Reports. Many professionals package their knowledge into an ebook, and/or create shorter special reports on smaller topics.

- Group coaching - lower fees per person, and better profits for you.

- Teleseminars. A great way to teach your target market in groups, and get them familiar with what you have to offer.

- In person workshops.

- Subscription web sites.

- CDs.

- Audio recordings.

- Ecourses.

- Selling other people’s products.

There are many different ways to re-package what you already know, and create products from it. I teach members of MarketingSalad.com how to take their knowledge and turn it into products and passive income streams.
