Your Clients Want Different Formats

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

Back when I just started teaching, I realized that different students learned differently. Some came to every lecture and wrote down every word said by the teacher and used their notes to study later.

Others never took any notes — instead they just listened intently in class. Yet others never bothered showing up at the lectures and read the textbooks instead. Some articles I have read recently report that now students rely on audio/video recordings of the lectures…

Do You Want To Sell A New Approach?

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

Many professionals I know have found a new approach to solving an old problem that their target market experiencing. Once they turn this approach into a program or book or a class, the question becomes how to sell this brand new approach to their potential customers.

Do you market and sell it by concentrating on the approach? Or do you do something else?

I recommend that instead of focusing on the new approach, you should focus on what your customers get when they learn and apply this new approach.

Always remember that your customers want to know what’s in it for them, what the value is of what they will receive and what the benefits are going to be. They are much less interested in a brand new revolutionary approach; they are much more interested in the results they will receive get when they use it.

My recommendation to you is to market using benefits, and explain about the new approach and how it works after you have explained the benefits.

This is how I teach my clients to create winning sales letters - first you explain the benefits of whatever you are selling. Only after you explained the benefts you should explain what you are offering (new approach, e-book, seminar, etc). Benefits always come first.

Getting Results From Social Media

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

There are many social networking web sites online. I am sure you have heard of LinkedIn, Ryze, Facebook, MySpace and many other social networking sites.

I am a member of a few of them, and we also do a lot of networking at my online business mentoring web site, http://www.MarketingSalad.com. I also run my own social networking events for business owners.

Lately I have been getting lots of questions about social media and online networking from coaches, consultants and other solopreneurs. It seems that social networking is becoming more popular and more business owners want to take advantage of social networking to get more clients for their businesses.

You have to remember that just like regular networking, using social media does take time. You are looking for results for your business and it takes time to get those results.

Some of the things i do when I use social media are: I run groups and networking events for people I meet on social networking sites, I keep in touch and network, I write and optimize my blog, etc.

Two main things to remember if you want to get results from social media are:

- Correctly define your goals for social networking. You have to know know exactly what you want to happen from your involvement in social media and how to follow up and build on that involvement.

- You need to find ways (and time!) to do social media marketing on a regular basis.

Are Soups Similar To Articles?

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

In the winter it looks like soup is everywhere! I have been reading magazine articles on how to cook soup. I keep seeing lots of soup commercials. Many restaurants are offering hearty soups on their winter menus.

While I like soup just fine, it’s not my favorite food. I do like soups in the winter; they do make you feel warmer, but the reason I am not that crazy about soups is because the majority of soups I have had are just blah. They are fine, but nothing special.

But every once in a while I come across very tasty soups, soups whose taste makes them much more memorable. After I eat them, I remember these soups for a while. And if someone I know made that particular soup, you can be sure that I had asked for a recipe.

What if the articles that you write are just like these two types of soups? You do not want your article to be fine but forgettable like the first type of soup. You want it to be like the second type of soup. You want those who have read your article to remember it and to ask for
more of your products and services.

Tomorrow I will be teaching How To Create Article Resource Boxes That Get You More Attention And More Clients Teleseminar. During this teleseminar you will learn how to get more leads and clients from your articles by creating effective and memorable resource boxes. I will also show you examples of Resource Boxes that have brought results.

The teleseminar is only for members of my online marketing mentoring program, MarketingSalad.com. Find out how to become a member and attend the teleseminar at

Reach Many Coaching Clients At Once

Wednesday, February 13th, 2008

As you know, getting leads for your coaching business is a great marketing technique. I recommend taking at least one action every day that will bring more leads to your coaching business.

Speaking to your potential coaching clients one-on-one is a good way to market yourself and gain leads for your bsuiness. Remember, though, not everyone you speak with is going to be a lead or vecome your clients. Therefore, you will need to speak with many people in order to get a few leads and clients for your coaching business. If you are speaking with all of them one-on-one, it is going to take a while to speak with enough people to just get 10-20 leads for your business.

So how do you spend less time and still lots of coaching leads? You do that by speaking with more than one person at a time. That way you can spend the same amount of time that you do now, but get more prospects.

There are many ways for you to teach your potential coaching clients:

- You can reach more people at once by doing speeches and presentations to groups frequented by your potential clients.

- You can reach more people by having and effective web site and publishing your own newsletter. Get many people to come to your web site, then have them subscribe to your newsletter.

- You can get your web site listed in search engines and get leads from search engines

The point of all of these examples is that you need to reach many of your coaching clients at once. That way you are going to be able to get lots of coaching leads and many coaching clients.

Want to learn how to reach many potential coaching clients at once? Join my online business coaching program at http://www.MarketingSalad.com to learn how to reach your potential coaching clients.

Are you a virtual assistant? Do you want to get more clients for your virtual assistance business? I have helped many VAs promote their business online and get clients and here is what I recommend:

- Define a target market for your business. Be extremely clear on who your target market is, and how you help it.

- Create a web site that attracts your target market to your business.

Link Directly To Your Product

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

Recently someone asked me what I think is the most annoying thing that people do online and that prevents them from getting more sales.

This was an interesting question, and here is my take on it.

One of the most annoying thing that happens to me online is when people don’t link directly to the product they are talking about in their message. Some time ago I was reading someone’s newsletter, and there was an ad for an e-book for coaches. It sounded interesting, so I clicked on the link, only to be taken to the main page on the newsletter publisher’s web site.

The main page did not have any information about the e-book. After clicking on a few links, and not finding any e-book information, I got discouraged and left the web site. The newsletter publisher lost a customer.

This newsletter publisher lost many customers who wanted to learn about the e-book, but were taken to the main page of the web site instead.

Remember, linking directly to the product you are marketing can dramatically increase your sales. This is just one of the tips I have discussed on the Article Marketing for Profits Audio Recording that you can get at http://www.marketingsalad.com/article_marketing.html

Use Web 2.0 And Online Networking To Promote A Coaching Business

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Is web 2.0 a good technique to promote your coaching business online? With so many online networking sites and blogs out there, how can you find time to participate and still have enough time left for your business and your coaching clients?

I find it to be a great tool to promote a business, BUT I also find that it can take up a lot of your time if you are not careful about organizing your time. I have had clients who have spent 4-5 hours a day, every day on social networks, but could not show enough results to justify this much time spent.

Here is what I recommend that you do to maximize your web 2.0 results:

- Define your goals for networking online ahead of time. Your goals should always be building your list, increasing awareness for your expertise and getting more clients.

- Only network in groups that can help you reach your goals. This means that you should only network in groups where your target market networks. If you network in groups that are fun and social, but don’t consist of your target market, you will have fun, but will not get clients.

- Pick a few networking forums/groups/web sites and use them for a while. There are thousands of networking forums/groups/web sites available for you to network in. There is no way to participate in all of them.

Pick a few that are the most appropriate for your business and spend some time networking in them.

I don’t recommend jumping between groups all the time, as your goal is to become known in a group and be considered an expert. Every time you join a new group, you will need to spend time on establishing your expertise from the very beginning.

- Evaluate your results on a regular basis. Every month take a look at what you have accomplished by networking online and evaluate them. If after a while you are not getting results you want, you should re-evaluate how you network, where you network and what you do while networking.
