So you wrote a book, now what? How can you find people who want to buy your book online? Here is how:
- Define the target audience for your book - who are the people who want to buy your book? Who is the target market for your book? Your book is very targeted, so you should be able to pinpoint a very specific group of people who wants the information you are sharing in the book.
- Start a newsletter to collect the email addresses of people who visit your web site. Not everyone is going to buy your book the first time they visit your web site. If you can’t keep in touch with them AFTER they have visited your web site, you have lost them forever.
If you are able to get their email address you will be able to market your book to them for a long time. Plus, if you decide to offer other products based on your book (teleseminars, ebooks, etc) you will be able to use your e-mail list to promote them as well.
- Create a marketing plan for your book. There are lots of things you can do to market your book - article marketing, blogging, search engine optimization, public speaking, etc.
Make sure your plan addresses how to get traffic to your web site, how to turn your traffic into leads and how to turn your leads into buyers.

Many people have asked me - what is the best marketing technique to use to sell more books? If I start blogging, will I sell more books next week? Will article marketing sell 100 more copies of my ebooks?
Truth is, no marketing technique - blogging, search engine optimization, article marketing or any other one - will increase your sales immediately.
What you need to find out is how a particular marketing technique will fit into your overall marketing plan.
Many marketing techniques are designed to bring people interested in what you do to your web site. However, those techniques don’t account for what happens AFTER you bring them to your web site.
If you do absolutely nothing in addition to blogging, people will come to your blog, read it, linger for a bit and leave. This is because there will not be any incentive for them to stick around.
People are bombarded with tons of marketing messages every day. Many of your blog visitors will forget about your blog and its address two minutes after they leave it.
Therefore, it is imperative to make sure that you can collect the e-mail addresses of people who visit your blog. If you can get their e-mail address, you will be able to e-mail them, market to them, and sell your books to them long after they have visited your blog.
You should do this with every marketing technique you use - figure out how to use it to add people to your list, so that you can continue to market to them long after they have visited your web site.
Next week I am teaching a free teleseminar, 5 Steps To Selling More Copies Of Your Book Or Ebook.
I will be talking about creating a marketing plan to promote your book online and get more sales. You can register for the teleseminar FREE at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/books.html

This is a question that comes up often with my clients.
Many coaches I know want to help many people that need their help, but can’t afford their one-on-one coaching rates. At the same time, coaches still need to make enough money to pay their mortgage and afford other things that their families need.
So how can you marry the two and come up with a win-win solution for everyone? You should do that by offering products and programs in different price ranges.
There are many people who need help, but can’t afford your services. There are thousands of them out there. If you only work with them one-on-one, you can’t help too many of them and you will not have as much time to work with your regular rate clients, the clients whose fees are helping you pay your mortgage.
Instead of doing that, create programs and products in different price ranges. Here is how:
- Create group coaching calls for people who can’t afford your one-on-one services. More people will be able to afford these and they will still get the benefit of being coached by you.
- Create a membership web site for your customers. I love this, and this is how many of my clients have chosen to work with me. They are members of my members-only web site, http://www.MarketingSalad.com where they have access to my coaching, teleseminars and expertise at a price much lower than my one-on-one coaching.
- Create and teach teleseminars. This is another great way to help more people in a shorter amount of time.
- Write an ebook or create other products, again more lower priced products to help more people.
Your products and teleseminars will enable you to help thousands of people, while still being able to generate revenue.

If you are thinking about publishing an ebook, now is the best time to do that! September is just around the corner, and in September many people will be looking for personal development and educational materials.
So if you have been thinking about creating an ebook, now is the perfect time to get started!
Here is the plan for publishing an e-book for you:
- Write the e-book
- Get the e-book proofread/edited
- Decide on the format you want to publish the e-book in. I recommend using PDF format. PDF readers are freely available for different computers and operating systems, so whoever buys your e-books will be able to read them.
- Decide on how you will sell the e-book on your web site. You will need to be able to accept credit card payment on your web site and, once they payment is processed, direct the buyer to the place where the buyer can download your e-book.
- Decide how to market your e-book. If you want people to buy your e-book, you will need to market it.
There are many marketing methods to market your e-book. They include creating a blog around your e-book, article marketing, search engine optimization and many more.
- Now put the pieces together and you are able to sell your own e-book online!

If you are about to launch an ebook, you should know that you can make lots of extra money by launching your ebook at the right time.
I have coached many business owners on writing, putting together and launching e-books. My clients ask many great questions when I work together with them on their e-books. They want to know how to write an e-book, how to format it, how to brand it and how to market it. But they usually do not ask an extremely important question. This question is about when to launch their ebook.

Every day I see coaches offering free coaching sessions and I just want to tell them to STOP! This is because offering free services is not a good way to get clients. Your time is valuable and you should only offer your coaching services to people when you are getting paid for them.
“But Biana” - I have heard many of my clients say when I told them not to offer free coaching sessions - “if we don’t offer a free coaching session, how do we find out I and the potential client are a good fit?”
This is a great question! It is important to make sure that there is a good fit for the two of you to work together. I recommend that instead of offering free coaching you offer a free “Getting To Know You Consultation” to people who are interested in your coaching services. Keep the session short, about 30 minutes and pre-qualify your clients before talking to them. Your time is valuable, so doing the pre-qualification work will help you see who is serious about working with you.
If you are not doing it yet, ask your potential clients to fill out a pre-consult questionnaire for me to get to know them better. Doing this also shows a commitment and interest from their side.
But what helped me even more to NOT offer any free services was creating products - E-books, Home Study Guides, Members-Only Web Site and Teleseminars.
When I get e-mails from prospective clients asking about my services, many times I can tell that the one-on-one service may not be appropriate for them. However, an e-book or some other product might be very useful.
When I am able to offer my products to people who can’t afford my services, or are on the fence about them, I am able to generate revenue from the situations that I would not be able to get anything out of if I only had my services to offer.
If you are a coach who offers ONLY services, I strongly recommend to look into creating multiple streams of income by creating and selling products in addition to services.
My Complete Step By Step Information Products Guide shows you a step-by-step process for creating e-books, teleseminars, members-only web sites, special reports and other products. You can get it at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zinfo

Are you a coach? Are you writing articles, ebooks and reports?
Writing is an extremely powerful technique for a coach to use. We can write articles, create information products and promote ourselves in other ways using writing.
Here is an effective process I recommend to create your own articles:
- Keep a running list of article topics. You may think of an article topics at all times - at the grocery store, while speaking to a client, when exercising, watching TV, etc. These are not good times to write the actual article, but you should write down the topic.
- When you are ready to write an article, you already have a list of topics. Having the list saves you a lot of time that you can spend on the actual writing. Just pick a topic and start writing!
- Remove the distractions when you write - don’t check your e-mail, let the phone calls go to voicemail, etc. Spend the time writing, and you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish in 40-50 minutes or uninterrupted writing.

Do you want to stop exchanging your time for money, and make money without working 70 hours every week?
If that is your goal for your service business, you should look into using a multiple streams of income business model for running your business. To me this is the ultimate business model for those who are looking to not exchange time for money, but to still earn a good living.
The idea is to create products (books, e-books, reports, audio recordings, seminars, etc), with each product being a new income stream. Now you are not just earning money from your services, but you are also earning them from each one of your multiple income streams.
Many of my income streams are completely automated - my buyers can buy my reports, e-books and audio recordings without any involvement on my part. My shopping cart processes the payment and allows the buyer to download the product after the payment is processed. I just get e-mail notifications of a sale.
With seminars I still teach them, record them and they turn into another product, audio recordings.
I find that selling my products is an additional great way to make money with my expertise. My clients receive the information they need at a lower price point, than if they were to engage my services. I am able to sell many products, because I do not spend any time on the sales/delivery/fulfillment process. A win-win for all.
Since starting to create my products, I have been decreasing the number of service clients I work with, while increasing my revenues.

I was recently asked for advice for a new service business owner. I have launched my own service business many years ago and I have taught hundreds of clients how to market their service businesses.
Here is what I recommend:
- Define your target market. Create a good description of your ideal client - define who she is, what she does, her age, occupation, etc.
Knowing your ideal client will help you market to her.
- Create a marketing plan for your business. When you just launch your business you really need to build awareness for it.
Make sure your plan includes information on how you are going to be marketing your business and how often you will be doing that.
- The biggest issue with service businesses is that many service professionals sell their time for money.
This means that you are limiting your earnings (you only have so many hours in a day to sell) and that when you go on vacation or take a day off, you are not making any money.
In addition to delivering your services make sure that you are also creating other streams of income for your business.
This can include group sessions, seminars, videos, e-books, audio products, books and more. That way even when you are taking a day off, your products are still earning you money.
