So you wrote a book, now what? How can you find people who want to buy your book online? Here is how:
- Define the target audience for your book - who are the people who want to buy your book? Who is the target market for your book? Your book is very targeted, so you should be able to pinpoint a very specific group of people who wants the information you are sharing in the book.
- Start a newsletter to collect the email addresses of people who visit your web site. Not everyone is going to buy your book the first time they visit your web site. If you can’t keep in touch with them AFTER they have visited your web site, you have lost them forever.
If you are able to get their email address you will be able to market your book to them for a long time. Plus, if you decide to offer other products based on your book (teleseminars, ebooks, etc) you will be able to use your e-mail list to promote them as well.
- Create a marketing plan for your book. There are lots of things you can do to market your book - article marketing, blogging, search engine optimization, public speaking, etc.
Make sure your plan addresses how to get traffic to your web site, how to turn your traffic into leads and how to turn your leads into buyers.

Many people have asked me - what is the best marketing technique to use to sell more books? If I start blogging, will I sell more books next week? Will article marketing sell 100 more copies of my ebooks?
Truth is, no marketing technique - blogging, search engine optimization, article marketing or any other one - will increase your sales immediately.
What you need to find out is how a particular marketing technique will fit into your overall marketing plan.
Many marketing techniques are designed to bring people interested in what you do to your web site. However, those techniques don’t account for what happens AFTER you bring them to your web site.
If you do absolutely nothing in addition to blogging, people will come to your blog, read it, linger for a bit and leave. This is because there will not be any incentive for them to stick around.
People are bombarded with tons of marketing messages every day. Many of your blog visitors will forget about your blog and its address two minutes after they leave it.
Therefore, it is imperative to make sure that you can collect the e-mail addresses of people who visit your blog. If you can get their e-mail address, you will be able to e-mail them, market to them, and sell your books to them long after they have visited your blog.
You should do this with every marketing technique you use - figure out how to use it to add people to your list, so that you can continue to market to them long after they have visited your web site.
Next week I am teaching a free teleseminar, 5 Steps To Selling More Copies Of Your Book Or Ebook.
I will be talking about creating a marketing plan to promote your book online and get more sales. You can register for the teleseminar FREE at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/books.html

Q: How can you convince your potential clients to hire you?
A: By offering a taste of your expertise for free.
Giving away a small taste of your expertise for free is a very effective way to gain service clients. Since a service is a high ticket item, many of your potential clients spend time on shopping around, looking at different people who have the expertise that they need. However, if they already know you as an expert because they have sampled your expertise in the past, then hiring you as a service provider will be a much easier decision for them. They will not shop around looking at other experts - they will come directly to you.
This method of getting clients is easy and it works. The majority of my clients and buyers of my products have to come to me after they have sampled my free report, “Top Strategies To Get Clients Online and subscribed to my newsletter.
It is easy to create such sampling for your potential clients. Here is how:
- Start A Newsletter to keep in touch with your potential customers. Make a subscription to the newsletter more attractive by offering a gift with subscription - a free product.
- Find A Topic For Your Free Product. A good topic for such a product is a solution to a common problem that your target market has.
- Decide On The Type Of A Free Product You Will Offer. There are many different types you can offer - e-course, e-book, special report, audio recording, etc. Make sure that whatever you offer you can create once and people can download it from your web site. This way you will be able to automate the whole process and it will be easy for you to reach many more prospects with this product.
- Keep In Touch. Use the newsletter to share your expertise and keep in touch with people who request your free gift. These people will not become your clients immediately, but if you use your newsletter to continue sharing your advice and expertise, some of them will become your clients later on.

Every day I see coaches offering free coaching sessions and I just want to tell them to STOP! This is because offering free services is not a good way to get clients. Your time is valuable and you should only offer your coaching services to people when you are getting paid for them.
“But Biana” - I have heard many of my clients say when I told them not to offer free coaching sessions - “if we don’t offer a free coaching session, how do we find out I and the potential client are a good fit?”
This is a great question! It is important to make sure that there is a good fit for the two of you to work together. I recommend that instead of offering free coaching you offer a free “Getting To Know You Consultation” to people who are interested in your coaching services. Keep the session short, about 30 minutes and pre-qualify your clients before talking to them. Your time is valuable, so doing the pre-qualification work will help you see who is serious about working with you.
If you are not doing it yet, ask your potential clients to fill out a pre-consult questionnaire for me to get to know them better. Doing this also shows a commitment and interest from their side.
But what helped me even more to NOT offer any free services was creating products - E-books, Home Study Guides, Members-Only Web Site and Teleseminars.
When I get e-mails from prospective clients asking about my services, many times I can tell that the one-on-one service may not be appropriate for them. However, an e-book or some other product might be very useful.
When I am able to offer my products to people who can’t afford my services, or are on the fence about them, I am able to generate revenue from the situations that I would not be able to get anything out of if I only had my services to offer.
If you are a coach who offers ONLY services, I strongly recommend to look into creating multiple streams of income by creating and selling products in addition to services.
My Complete Step By Step Information Products Guide shows you a step-by-step process for creating e-books, teleseminars, members-only web sites, special reports and other products. You can get it at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zinfo

Do you have products that you want to sell online - a book, e-book, seminars? Or maybe you want to sell your services? To do this effectively you need to create buzz for what you have to offer. You need to get your name out there, you need to promote your expertise, so that your potential customers see that you are an expert at what you do.
Promoting expertise online is what I help my customers do.It is all about getting your name known and getting as many of your target customers as possible into your circle of influence.
Here are some of the steps that you can take to start generating buzz and promoting your expertise online:
- Define your target market - who are the people you want to buy the book?
- Create a free offering that you can give away to your target market. This can be a special report, audio recording, e-book, etc. You need to create an offering that your target market really wants - that way you will be able to use it to get more newsletter subscribers.
- Start building your newsletter list - use the free offering as a gift for everyone who subscribes to your newsletter. Publish your newsletter on a regular basis to keep in touch with your subscribers and provide them with information about your book.
- Use online marketing techniques - search engine optimization, article marketing, your own blog, etc - to get newsletter subscribers.
The more subscribers you have, the more people you can contact, the more people will be able to buy your book.
- Create other products and programs. Having just a book is not enough. Create other products based on your expertise - e-books, audio recordings, classes, etc. Now you can use your newsletter list to sell your products.
As you can see, you should promote your expertise by building on the things you have done previously. You define your target market first, then you create a gift you can give away, then you use marketing techniques to get more newsletter subscribers, etc.
In my Complete Step By Step Online Marketing Course I discuss how to use effective online marketing techniques to promote your business and get it known online. Get the Course now at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zcourse

When my clients need to increase the number of newsletter subscribers and get more exposure for their business, I recommend giving out something for free. This can be a special report, audio recording or an ebook, that their clients REALLY want.
But what do you do if your freebie doesn’t work - doesn’t bring in more newsletter subscribers and exposure? Do you create a new one? Do you keep promoting the old one?
Sometimes you need to give it more time. Before investing your time into creating a new giveaway, investigate what’s wrong with the old one. Is it its topic? Many times when my clients tell me that their freebie doesn’t work, it is usually their marketing. They haven’t
spent enough time on marketing their offering.
If you haven’t spent enough time promoting your free gift, spend more time marketing and promoting it.
Look for a topic that really interests your target market. Poll your target market to see what kind of issues your target marketing is experiencing. Then create an offering that helps your target market solve those issues.

Many life coaches, career coaches and business coaches have told me that they are not sure how to create multiple streams of income for their coaching businesses.
The easiest way to create multiple income streams are creating products that you can market to YOUR CURRENT TARGET MARKET. It is the easiest thing to do, because if you create products for the same target market, you can use your existing marketing resources (your web site, your newsletter, your blog, etc) to promote them. When
you work constantly with the same target market, you become known as an expert, and will get more sales as a result.
So, what kind of products can you create for your income streams? There are many - e-books, reports, e-courses, audio recordings, teleseminars just to name a few. The
beauty of these income streams that they are passive — you create them once, post them on your web site and then your customers can buy them from you.
When you sell your products, you don’t have to work as hard with your one-on-one clients, because you have additional revenue from your products. My products have allowed me to work with just a few select clients on one-on-one basis, take many vacations, enjoy shorter summer hours, and spend a lot of time with family and friends.
I will be teaching how to create your own products during the How To Profit From Information Products Teleseminar Series. You will learn how to create your own e-books, reports and teleseminars. You will also learn how to market them online effectively in order to get clients and increase your revenues.
