Coaches, Are You Selling Coaching?

Many coaches I know sell coaching or free sample coaching sessions.
The problem with doing this is that people rarely buy coaching or sample sessions. What they do buy is a solution to a problem or a cure for a pain.

I have seen many of my clients try to sell coaching and free coaching sessions – they tried to sell coaching by explaining what coaching means, what a coach is, how the industry works, etc. However, once they did their research, found out what their clients’ problems were, and started selling solutions to the problems, their client count went way up

If you are selling coaching, stop. You need to sharpen your marketing message. Spend some time on defining and researching your target market. Then, instead of selling coaching and sample sessions start talking to clients about the problems they have and the solutions they need.

How To Find Time To Market And Work With Clients

A business owner recently asked me how to devote time to marketing (and get results from marketing) and still have enough time left to work with existing clients and create products.

Here are my recommendations:

– With your client work, schedule your time and don’t procrastinate. When you have scheduled 2 hours to do client work, spend the 2 hours to do just that. No checking e-mail, no phone calls – just do the work you need to get done. You will be amazed how much you can accomplish in just 2 hours if you stick to your plan.

– When you are marketing, spend some time learning about an online marketing technique, what the implications of using it are, what results to expect, etc. Then, break the techniques into bite-sized chunks you can do, and schedule those chunks. You will be able to accomplish much more when you understand the techniques, and know what results to expect from them.

Linking Directly To Your Products

I had lots of fun teaching Article Marketing for Profits Teleclass last week. One of the things we discussed was the importance of linking directly to your product, newsletter, special bonus, from the resource box of the article.

Why should you link directly to the product, instead of the main page of your web site? As you know, I always recommend to make your marketing as targeted as possible. You can do that very easily with article marketing – when you write an article on a particular topic, and offer a gift or a product in the resource box, related to the article’s theme, you are doing targeted article marketing. Since your article reader is interested in the article’s topic, offering a gift or a product related to the article increases the possibility that the reader will actually click on the link in the resource box, and learn more about your product.

Let’s say your wrote an article about time management. The best bet for your resource box is to offer a link to a free or a for-fee product of yours about time management. If your article is on time management, and you offer a link to a product on networking, you will not get as many takers.

How To Start Online Home Based Business

So you started a home based to work from home. How can you get customers to actually come and buy from you? Here are five tips to get you started:

Get a Web Site for your Business. Getting a web site online is just like opening a store in the brick and mortar world. Even if your company provides a web site for you, get your own web site. It is going to be much easier to promote, get search engine traffic and get customers when you have your own, not a company-given web site.

Make sure the Web Site is usable and search engine friendly. Many times a web site owner designs a web site that the owner likes. The problem is, the web site is very business owner-oriented, instead of being customer-oriented. Remember – it is not about you, it is about the customers. Ask a few people from your target market to test drive the web site for you, and to tell you what they liked/disliked about it.

This way you will know that your target customers like and are interested in using your web site.

Start learning about Search Engines. You might not become a search engine specialist, but it is important to know how search engines work, and why they send more traffic to one web site, and less traffic to another. Get a Newsletter for your Web Site. When people come to your web site, you don’t want them to leave empty-handed and never return. So ask them to sign up for your newsletter. Start a Link Exchange on your web site. Exchanging links with good, quality sites will help you get more traffic and search engine rankings. Avoid web sites that are full of banners and are not professional looking.

Having Trouble Getting Links to Your Web Site?

Having trouble getting links and reciprocal links to your web site?

I am sure you know that having links from other quality web sites to your web site is good. There are several reasons for this:

– When someone links to your web site, the visitors of that web site can click on the link and visit your web site. These are bonus visitors, as they would have never found about about your web site, if it weren’t for that link.

– You are building a brand. The more people link to you, the more people will know who you are, and what your business is.

– Search engines love links; some of them measure your web site’s popularity based on how many links you have going to your web site. More links to your web site means your web site is more popular, and, thus, it gets better search engine rankings.

As you can see, having links to your web site is very advantageous to your and your business.
