Online Marketing For Virtual Assistants

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Q: How can a virtual assistant get more clients online?

I have helped many virtual assistants get more clients and grow their businesses. Here is what I recommend:

- Define your target market. Yes, all of this is going back to figuring out who your target market is. If you do not know who you want to work with, you will not be able to create an effective online marketing system for your virtual assistant business.

- Create an effective online marketing message. What is your unique selling proposition? How do you help your clients? What benefits will they receive by working with you?

- Create an effective web site around your target market. Having an effective web site is EXTREMELY important when you are doing business online. If your perfect clients come to your web site, but the web site does not convince them to hire you, they will go elsewhere. Make sure that your web site is good at marketing to your target market.

- Go where your clients are. Now that you defined your target market, find it! Network in the groups where your target market networks, etc.

- Use online marketing techniques - search engine optimization, article marketing, your own blog, etc - to promote your services and to drive traffic to your web site.

- Get my special report, “Top Strategies To Get Clients Online”. It discusses, in detail, how to use online marketing to get
clients online. You can get it at

How Coaches Get Clients By Referrals

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

Do you need more coaching clients? How about getting clients by referrals?

To get clients through referrals you should create reciprocal referral relationships with other non-competing professionals who work with your target market. This way, you can send referrals to each other, and get more business. Having a strong referral network is one of the best ways to get clients for a service business.

For example, let’s say you are a business coach and your target market are business owners who run small and medium size businesses. You should connect with other business professionals that small and medium size businesses employ, such as web designers, accountants, virtual assistants and others. As you build relationships with them, you will be able to refer business to each other.

The best way to find professionals to build referral relationships with is through networking. This can be local networking - through your Chamber of Commerce and other organization. Or it can be something I have used with a lot of success, online networking. You can network online with professionals, get to know them and build relationships with
them.

Today and tomorrow I am hosting an online networking event, during which I do “business matchmaking” - I help participants find referral partners.

What If Things Don’t Go As Planned?

Thursday, June 21st, 2007

A part of my business plan for this year includes attending local business networking events to meet more local solopreneurs and promote my business. To follow through with my plan, I decided to network in person last week. I found a few events I was interested in attending and put them on my schedule.
Of course, even the most detailed plans go awry. In my case a broken air conditioner prevented me from attending networking events. Instead of going to the events, I was stuck making sure that the air conditioning gets fixed. Having to work when it is hot is really no fun.

Eventually the air conditioning got fixed, but getting that done prevented me from attending local networking events. But even though I could not participate in local events in the last few days, I was still able to participate in online networking events, connect with my potential clients and get new clients and newsletter subscribers.

Online networking is a great way to network. What I love about online networking is that you can do it anytime - between client appointments, early in the morning and even when you are trying to get your air conditioning fixed.

Join me for some online networking! I am hosting an online networking event next week and you can join even if you only have 10 minutes to spare. During the event you will be able to connect with your potential customers, learn how to network online and create valuable connections.

How To Use Networking To Get Clients

Monday, June 18th, 2007

Networking is great, as long as you have very clear goals for it and you network in groups
that are right for your business.

Here is what I recommend:

- If your goal is to get new business, you should network in groups that are frequented by your target market. Make sure you have defined your target market well, then look for groups where your target market networks and network there.

- Have a good answer (or a few good answers) to the question about what you do. Make sure you answer outlines the benefits your target market will receive when working with you.

- Make referrals when you can. Send referrals to others in the group and they will be more likely to send referrals your way.

I also recommend that you participate in online networking. I am the online business coach and about 98% of my clients come to me through my online marketing efforts. Many of them come to me after they meet through online networking groups.

If you have never participate in online networking, it is just like offline networking, except that it is done online. I am holding an online networking event next week, so come on over and join us for the event!

There is no charge to participate, so go to http://www.marketingsalad.com/networking.html to register for the event. Hope to see you there!

Local Versus Online Networking

Friday, April 27th, 2007

Many people I know like to do local networking. I like attending local networking meetings, but I don’t want to attend at inconvenient times, I don’t want to go to events when it’s snowing and sometimes I don’t have 2-4 hours to spend to drive to/from the event and
attend the actual event.

This is exactly why I am a big fa of online networking - with online networking you don’t have to commute, you can network on your own time and you can choose the types of
people you’d like to meet.

When you network online you should:

- Find groups frequented by your target market

- Post on a regular basis in these groups

- Post on subjects you are an expert at in order to promote your expertise and get others to get to know you

- Create partnerships with others serving the same target market

- Be consistent in everything you do

It is very important to network in the groups on a regular basis, so that others who participate in the groups get to know you. You want them to know who you and what you do, so that when they need products/services that you provide, they would know to come to you.

Need More Online Visibility For Your Business?

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Start a networking group!

Creating your own networking group helps you raise your profile and increase your visibility. Years ago I started a group, and, being the organizer, has helped me increase my visibility among members.

Now I start and manage online networking groups, and you can do that too. You can create your own online networking group to meet other people, to demonstrate your expertise and to promote your business.

There are a few different ways to do that - you can start a message board on a social networking web site. Doing this will help you tap into the web site’s existing traffic.

Of, you can start your own e-mail group and message board, but than you have to promote it on your own.

Join the MarketingSalad.com Online Networking Group that I run to experience online networking. Our events take place every few months.

How To Network Online Effectively

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

How can a coach network online effectively?

I have been networking online for a very long time. To start, explore online networking groups. There are different online networking web sites and groups. Some are networking mailing lists, where you post messages and receive replies from others by e-mail.

Others have messages boards, such as Ryze, Xing, MarketingSalad.com, where you post your messages on a network message board.

Others are like LinkedIn - they are more of a Rolodex for your business, where you can connect with people you know, and then connect with people your connections know, etc.
Different networking groups require different online networking strategies and approaches. I recommend that you explore different online networking organizations and see which ones work best for you. Once you find the ones where you are comfortable networking, join in and start participating on a regular basis. Get to know other members and have them get to know you.

At MarketingSalad.com I discuss in-depth how to use different online networking web sites and mailing lists. Got questions about online networking? Join MarketingSalad.com and post your questions!

How To Promote Your Ecourses

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Have you written an ecourse to get more newsletter subscribers? Now is the time to promote it. Here is how:

The best way to promote your e-course is to market it where your target market is. This is what I have done with my free offering, Top 5 Ways To Increase Online Sales, and it has brought me great results.

Here are online marketing ideas to help you get started:

- Online networking. Find groups where your target market networks online and join them. There are many places to find such groups - find groups on Yahoo groups, use search engines to locate them, etc.

Once you become a member, network in these groups and provide useful tips, so that other members can get to know you. Don’t forget to promote your e-course in your signature.

- Article marketing. Write articles that are of benefit to your target market, and submit them to article directories and niche web sites that your target market reads. Don’t forget to include a link to your e-course in the Resource Box that you submit with the article.

In addition to being posted in article directories and niche web sites, your articles will be re-printed in other people’s newsletters, on web sites and blogs, providing your e-course more exposure.

- Search engine optimization. Create a well-written page on your web site to promote your e-course and optimize it for search engines. That way you can get your perfect customers, who are using the search engines, to come to your web site and sign-up.

I have written many articles on how to use online networking, article marketing and search engine optimization to promote a coaching business. Click here to read articles on how to use online networking, article marketing and search engine optimization to promote a coaching business.

And don’t forget to get my Top 5 Ways To Increase Online Sales report, absolutely FREE, to learn how to get more online sales. You can use the same tips even if you promote a free product.
