When I cook, I like to be creative. There are times when I take a recipe and make many modifications to it – use different spices, substitute ingredients, etc. However, I follow one rule in my cooking - when I receive a recipe from a trusted source, I try it exactly the way it is written the first time. I use the exact amounts, as well as the same techniques and methods described in the recipe. If I like the resulting dish, I continue using the same recipe. If I do not like the result, I make changes to the recipe the next time I make the same dish.
A few weeks ago I tried a spinach lasagna recipe from a trusted source. I followed the recipe exactly and it came out perfectly – a nice blend of noodles, cheeses and spinach. It was flavorful and there were just the right amounts of sauce and cheeses. Given how much everyone liked it, I am going to make it again and I will not make any changes to the recipe.
I recommend that you use the same approach when you implement a new marketing technique for your business. Get a recipe for applying the technique from a trusted source and try doing exactly what the recipe says the first time you are working with it. As you learn the technique, you will see where you can modify it for yourself for best results.

Do you want to get more clients for your coaching business? Getting coaching clients is a goal of many coaches, but not all of them are able to bring more clients to their business. This is happening because many coaches are not following a plan for getting clients.
Instead of creating an effective plan, they just do random marketing once in a while. I knew a business owner once who marketed randomly. One day he heard from an expert that blogs are great for getting clients….

A few months ago I ran into a solopreneur in a state of total panic. She had started her business four years ago and her main marketing activity (her ONLY marketing activity, in fact) has been advertising the business on a particular web site. The web site was popular and was bringing her about 90% of her clients. Now the web site was closing and the solopreneur was panicking because she had no other reliable source that will bring her customers…..

About two weeks ago we had what seemed to be the last really warm day of the season and decided to go to the lake. Going to the lake is one of my favorite outdoor activities when it’s not too cold.
The walk around the lake was gorgeous. The usual blue lake and blue sky were additionally enhanced with trees with bright red and yellow leaves. Some of the leaves were falling down, but the ones still in the trees were contrasting very nicely with the blue color of the water.
That day we also met some friends for lunch. The conversation around the table turned to the gorgeous weather we were having that day, and how soon this nice weather is going to give way to cold and snow. If winter is coming to your area soon and you want to market more online and less in person, start learning about article marketing and how to use it to get leads and clients for your business!
Article marketing is a great marketing technique that you can use to get clients from the comfort of your office. There are three steps to doing article marketing:
- Write An Article. You do need to write an article in order to start using article marketing. The most effective articles are the ones that are of interest to your target market.
- Create A Resource Box For Each Article. A resource box is what comes right after the article; the 2-4 sentences that include your bio and a link back to your business web site.
- Submit Your Article To Article Directories. To get as much exposure for your article as possible, you need to submit your article to many article directories.

More and more people have been asking me how to teach people in groups. Coaches, consultants, tutors and other solopreneurs are looking to make money and get more clients by working with groups instead of just working with clients one-on-one.
So, how do you get started with teaching people in groups? The first two questions you should ask yourself are:
- Who are your target customers?
- What do they need help with?
These are the first two questions that you should answer before deciding on the group format, number of people in a group, pricing, etc.
If you do not know who your customers are and what they need help with, you will not be able to structure your offer effectively and, as a result, will not be able to get people to register.
Do the first thing you need to do is to find your target market. Once you do, find out what issues they are experiencing and what kind of help they need. To get the most people register for your group you will need to offer them something they really want. You will need to create a very compelling offer.
So, what are your target customers interested in? They are interested in solving problems that they are experiencing right now.
Therefore, the best way to get into working with groups is by starting a group on a topic that is of great interest to your target market.
Once you know your target market and once you find topics that your target market is interested in, it will be much easier for you to decide on the format, length and pricing for your group.
To learn more about teaching people in groups and making money doing that, get my Make Thousands Of Dollars With Teleseminars Home Study Guide, in which I discuss how to create best-selling teleseminars. It is available at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zteleseminars

Article submission is the process of taking the article that you have already written and submitting it to article directories, web sites and other places that accept them.
You want to submit your articles to many different places because the more articles you have submitted to web sites, the more people will know about you and the more of them will be able to visit your web site and become your clients!
Article submission consists of a few steps:
- Writing your article
- Creating an effective resource box for the article that is optimized to bring lots of traffic to your web site
- Finding article directories you want to submit your article to.
- Creating an account at the article directories. You will only have to do this once, the first time you submit at that particular directory.
- Logging in to your account at the article directory
- Following instructions at the article directory and submitting your article to them.
The process is very intuitive and not hard - once you submit a few articles, you will know the process well and will be able to follow it for as many articles as you’d like.
For a step-by-step process for writing and submitting your articles online to get more web site traffic and more clients get my Complete Step By Step Article Marketing Course at http://www.avocadoconsulting.com/rlinks/zarticlesc

Every once in a while someone asks me a HUGE marketing question. A HUGE question usually means that if I were to answer in detail, my answer could be made into a book. In fact, I have written a book on this exact subject.
The question this time is What Works In Marketing?
Here is my VERY short answer:
As I promote my business almost completely online, almost all of my clients come to me through my online marking efforts.
I have been marketing online for over 10 years, and the steps to creating a successful online business are:
- Defining your target audience
- Creating an effective message that resonates with your audience
- Taking this message far and wide to your target audience online
The techniques that have been most successful for me are:
- Newsletter publishing - keeping in touch with my current and potential customers is a big portion of my marketing plan.
- Article marketing - my articles have been posted on hundreds of web sites, bringing me traffic and clients.
- Search engine optimization has brought massive amounts of traffic to my web site.
- Business blogging - helps with search engine optimization.
- Free teleseminars have exposed my work to hundreds of people at a time, bringing me more exposure and clients.

Got a long sales cycle for your products and services? You MUST use online marketing to get clients!
If your your sales cycle is long, I strongly recommend that you create your marketing plan and market your business at all times, whether you have projects or not. Since people who you introduce yourself to today might not hire you for a year or so, you need to constantly look for customers to promote your services to.
Figure out who your target customers are. These are the people who need, want and can afford for your service.
Go to where they are, both online and offline. Participate in networking events they participate in, join online networking groups that they frequent.
However, meeting them once might not get you hired; you will need to keep in touch with them on a regular basis to keep your name in front of them.
Get a web site to promote your business online. Make sure that it is optimized for search
engines and that you use the correct keywords to get both national and local traffic to your web site.
My Complete Step by Step Online Marketing Course shows you, step-by-step, how to use online marketing to get customers for your long sales cycle business.

If you hate cold calling, you are not alone. Many business owners hate cold calling, but since for many business owners this is the only technique to drum up new business, business owners just keep using it.
Not anymore! Using online marketing to get clients is one of the best ways to stop using cold calling. Online marketing is all about bring your potential customers, who are already looking for what you have to offer, to your web site. Since you are starting out with online marketing, here is a three step plan to help you get started:
1. Define your target market. Before you start marketing, you need to know who you are marketing to - who your perfect customers are.
2. Create/revise your web site to make it an effective sales tool. Your customers can’t talk to you when they are surfing the web, so the only thing that can convince them to buy from you is your web site.
It is extremely important to make your web site communicate the benefits of hiring you to your potential customers.
3. Use online marketing techniques to drive your target market to your web site. Now that you know who your target market is, and have an effective web site that communicates the benefits of hiring you to your target market, you need to bring your target market in.
Use search engine optimization, newsletter publishing, article marketing and other online marketing techniques to drive your target customers to your web site.
Get my Complete Step by Step Online Marketing Course - it discusses exactly how to use online marketing techniques to stop cold calling and get clients online.
