Debra, thank you for sharing about using pay per click for growing your list. Great point on the need for narrow focus when doing pay per click.
If you don't do that, you will spend a lot of money on pay per click, but won't get the results that you are looking for.

Julie, yes, since you already have content, it will not take you long at all to repurpose it into articles.

Jump into article marketing - you will see more traffic and more newsletter subscribers as a result!

Peter, glad the post helped you see a glimmer of light in social marketing.

I recommend creating a plan and taking action. Break your plan into smaller actions you can take and you will be able to start seeing more social marketing results.

If you can narrowly define your niche and the keywords a person uses to search for that topic, you can build your list big and quick using google adwords and a squeeze page. Although, it does cost money, unlike the options mentioned above.

Thanks, Biana. I'm pretty efficient at accomplishing the second and third strategies, but not so well with getting inspired to do the first. That's pretty ironic, since the blogging (and newsletter) writing--all of which I'm busy promoting via social networking--mean that I've already got the article content and just need to put them in the directories.

I bet I'm not the only one failing to take advantage of strategy #1 when it could be so very easy!

Great insights.. it has helped me see a glimmer of light across the minefield of social marketing..
The best thing is to have a workable strategy.. one that you can actually achieve..

A useful technique with social networking and blogging, is of course to comment! If you read blogs that are similar to your business or offering, you can really help your business. First, you can communicate with other people in your industry which helps provide collaboration and synergy. You can also demonstrate your background and experience, and provide extra insights. You should encourage readers to respond and bloggers to comment on your articles as well. Don't look for competitors, but look for partnerships so that everyone can be a winner.
