Are You Sabotaging Your Business?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

Are you sabotaging your business by not building your list? I have seen many service professionals say that they don’t know how to build their lists or that they will start building their lists next month. Unfortunately, by not building their lists they are not attracting their perfect clients and sabotaging their businesses.

If you are still waiting to build your list, you are sabotaging your business. Stop sabotaging your business – discover how to build your list during the Build Your List Teleseminar Series that starts in just two days! Register now at

In the meantime, here are three tips to help you start building your list:

1. Create An Effective Free Gift. Find the topic that people in your target market are interested in. Create an effective free gift, such as an ebook, special report or an audio recording on the subject. Use the free gift that you can give away to your subscribers in exchange for their subscribing to your newsletter.

2. Create An Effective Squeeze Page. Once you create a free gift, you must also create a page on which you will be giving away this gift.

This page is called a squeeze page, and the reason it is very effective is because it has just one goal, converting your web site visitors into newsletter subscribers.

3. Bring Traffic To Your Squeeze Page. Invite people to visit your squeeze page, so that they can request your free gift and subscribe to your newsletter.

There are many different methods to use to invite people to visit your squeeze page. You can use article marketing, social networking, blogging and other methods to invite people to come to your squeeze page.

Three List Building Mistakes That Service Professionals Make

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

I have taught many service professionals, such as coaches, consultants and virtual assistants, about how to build their lists. And in the process, I have noticed many of them making the same mistakes. These mistakes are preventing them from building a large list of people in their target market.

When you have a list of people in your target market, everything changes. It becomes easy for you to promote your expertise and get clients. It becomes easy for you to create programs that people in your target market are interested in. It becomes easy for you to stand out among the crowd and attract more clients as a result!

Here are three mistakes that service professionals make when building their lists and how to fix them:

Mistake #1: Inviting EVERYONE To Your List

Here is a mistake that I see many coaches, consultants and other service professionals make. They invite everyone to their lists – everyone they meet at networking events, on social networking web sites, etc.

As a result, their list consists of everyone, instead of people in their target market. As a result, their lists are very unresponsive. Since the people on their lists are not in their target markets, they are not interested in their products and services.

How to fix this: Use effective marketing strategies to strategically invite people in your target market to your list.

Mistake #2: Creating An Ineffective Free Gift

I have seen many professionals create what THEY thought was a good free gift. They spent many hours on creating the gift, and then they spent even more time on promoting this gift. However, while they invested a lot of time into this free gift, people in their target market weren’t signing up for this. Why was that?

The reason for this was that people in their target market weren’t interested in their free gift. So here is what to do so that this doesn’t happen to your free gift:

How to fix this: Create a free gift that people in your target market are interested in. Before you actually create this free gift do your research to find out what people in your target market are interested in learning about.

Mistake #3: Building Your List Once A Month

Some service professionals only build their lists once in a while. Thing is, list building is not a one-time event. Rather, it is a continuous process.

When you build your list every day, you create more awareness for your business, build your list much faster and get more clients.

How to fix this: Build your list every day!

How To Use Article Marketing To Build Your List

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Do you use article marketing to build your list? If you are not using article marketing for list building, you are missing out on extremely targeted prospects and clients.

I love using article marketing for list building. It is effective, it works great and you can use it to invite exactly people you want to invite to your list – people in your target market!

Now the question becomes: How do you do that? How do you invite people in your target market to join your list? Yo do that by writing articles on topics that are of interest to people that you want to invite to your list.

What is article marketing? Article marketing is the process of writing articles that people in your target market are interested in reading and then submitting them to article directories to be published. It is extremely important to write articles that are of interest to your target market, because that is another way to qualify your subscribers. When the topic of your article is of interest to people in your target market, people in your target market will read your articles and find out more about your newsletter.

Here is how to do this:

Write Articles That People In Your Target Market Want To Read

What is your goal? Your goal is to invite people in your target market to read your articles. And once they read your articles, you want to invite them to join your list.

The best way to do that is by writing articles that they want to read. After all, if your articles are not of interest to people in your target market, they will not read them, and they will not join your list.

Create An Effective Resource Box

When you submit your article to directories, your article will also include a Resource Box. Your Resource Box is a one-paragraph description of you and your business and a link back to your web site.

When your articles are published in article directories web site owners, newsletter publishers and bloggers are able to use your articles on their web sites and blogs and in their newsletters. When they reprint your article, your Resource Box is also reprinted, which means that a link back to your web site will potentially appear on other web sites, in blogs and in newsletters.

This means that to get more subscribers from your articles you must create a compelling Resource Box that convinces your article readers to subscribe to your newsletter!

Submit Your Articles To Article Directories

Nothing will happen until you actually submit your articles to article directories. Make sure to submit your articles to article directories on a regular basis, and you will be able to grow your list faster and easier!

Social Media Marketing: How To Use Social Media To Build Your List

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

How would you like to get more of your perfect clients to join your list? The great news is, social media marketing, such as using Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to share information about your business will help you build your list!

Are you using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to invite people to join your list? If you are using those social media web sites, but are not inviting people you meet there to join your list, you are missing on a huge source of prospects and clients.

Here are three things that you must do on social media web sites to invite more people on social media web sites to join your list:

Create Effective Social Media Profiles

Effective social media profiles are extremely important for getting results with social media. When you use your social networking profile to connect with your potential clients, you will get better results.

And don’t forget to include a link to your newsletter in your social media profile. If you do not have a link for people to click on in your profile, so that they can subscribe to your newsletter, how are they going to even know that you have a newsletter?

Remember, the best way to ensure that that NO ONE will subscribe to your newsletter is by not sharing a link to it. Make sure that your profile shares a link to your newsletter!

Become More Visible

When you are visible, more people will know about you and will be able to subscribe to your newsletter! Become visible by getting involved. Share information, share tips, connect and start building relationships with people you meet on those social networking web sites.

When you share tips, articles and ideas, people see them. And as they connect with you and learn from you, their natural next step is to learn a bit more about you through your profile. They will go to your profile, see information about your newsletter, and will click on the link to subscribe!

Share About Your Free Gift

Your profile is not the only place to let people know about your newsletter and the free gift that you are giving away to people who subscribe to your newsletter. People should also hear about your free gift from your status updates on Facebook and your tweets on Twitter.

Don’t just share about your free gift – you should also share tips, information and build relationships. When you balance status updates about your free gift with tips and information or interest to your target market, many more people will click on your links and subscribe to your newsletter.
