One of the recommendations in that article was to create products, such as e-books, classes, audio, seminars and more. Your products cost less than your services, so when your potential customers are not willing to spend money on your services during the downturn, you can offer them your products. That way they can still get help that they need and you can make money.
The products will also help you create multiple streams of income for your business, so that you do not have to rely just on your services to bring in revenue.
After that article came out, I have been getting many e-mails from readers. Quite a few of you asked me what to do if you are not ready to create products yet, but you do want to create multiple streams of income in your business.
The answer is to use someone else's products through an affiliate program. An affiliate program is a program that will let you sell someone else's products and earn commissions on every sale. Here is how to get started:
If you have heard of the products' author or if you have tried the products yourself, it is even better, because then you will be able to recommend the products. A personal recommendation can go a long way.
If you are joining an affiliate program that sells information products, look for commissions in the 20-40% range.
Just like with your own products, you need to promote affiliate products in order to sell them and make money with them. Here are some ideas to help you promote the affiliate products:
Don't tell people to go to the web site and pick a product that they want -- they will not do that. Instead, pick one product and promote it by writing reviews, publishing blog posts about it, etc. When you promote one product at a time, you concentrate everyone's attention on that one product and will be able to get more sales.
If you bought one of the products in past and used it, write a review of it. Discuss why you decided to buy the product, whatyou liked about it and how it helped you. Many people buy based on a personal recommendation, so reviews and recommendations will help you with promotion.
Recommend one of the products to your list. That way you will get the product in front of many people at once and will be able to get more sales.
Each affiliate product can be an additional income stream for your business. Spend some time on promoting each product and you will be able to earn money with other people's products!
