How To Use Social Networking Sites To Promote Your Expertise

Are you using social networking sites because you want to get more clients and customers? One of the best ways to accomplish that is by being seen as the expert in your field on social networking sites. When other networkers see you as the expert, they are much more likely to buy from you and they are much more likely to recommend you to others.

I have noticed this every time I joined a new social network - at first, before people knew who I was, I would get just a few referrals. But once I have started building relationships and more people on the site found out what I am an expert at, I would start getting clients and client referrals, joint ventures offers and newsletter subscribers.

Being seen as an expert at social networking sites is one of the best ways to promote your business and get more clients. Here is how to promote your expertise on social networking sites:

- Create a professional profile page. You are a professional and want to be seen as a professional, so make sure that everything about that you post on social networking sites is professional.

What is a profile page? Many social networking sites give you a page that you can use to post information about yourself and your business. This is your profile. Your profile should include information about you and your business. Don't include too many personal items. I usually include some information about my love of cooking and a few hobbies, but the bulk of my pages are always about my business.

Make sure your profile page includes information about your target market and how you help your target market. You should also include information about your web site and, if you can, include information or a link to where people can subscribe to your newsletter.

- Find your target market on social networking sites. Who do you want to know about your expertise? Your target market, of course! So you need to find where your target market hangs out on those social networking sites.

Many of the sites have smaller groups organized by topics. Search for groups on topics that your target market would be interested in and join some of those groups.

Can't find a group that your target market would be interested in participating? Create such a group yourself! Being a leader of a group will help you be more visible to your target market and promote your expertise even more.

- Start networking with your target market. Visit the groups where your target market networks on a regular basis to answer questions and offer tips. Don't forget to include your signature at the end of each message your post. Your signature should contain information about your business and a link to your web site. That way your target market can visit your web site after they read your message.

Make sure to network on a regular basis - people will not remember you if you only post once a month or once every few months. You want to build your expertise and your following, and in order to do that, your target market needs to read your posts and see what you are up to on a regular basis.

Join a few networking sites and start using these tips to promote your expertise and become known to your target market!
