3 Steps For Marketing Your Business During Recession

A few months ago I wrote an article on how to get clients during a downturn in the economy. I have been getting questions from readers on the topic of that article ever since. It is obvious that the topic of getting clients during a recession is a hot topic for many service professionals. Many professionals are reporting that they are not getting as many clients as they did last year. They are also telling me that it is harder than ever to enroll new clients -- everyone is watching their cash flow and there are significantly fewer people looking to engage service professionals.

So what can you do in this changing economy? How can you increase your cash flow and get more clients even in during downturn in the economy?

Here is a 3-step plan to help you do that

- Start By Surveying Your Clients. As the economy changes, so do people's needs. This means that even if you surveyed your potential clients in the past and found our what they need, that information may be outdated now.

As the economy changes your clients may need different services and different information at different price points. Therefore, you may want to survey your target customers to find out what their needs are and how their needs are changing.

In addition to surveying them, you may also want to hang out in forums and online groups where your target market networks and see what your target market discusses. This information will provide an additional glimpse into your customers' needs and wants.

- Create Information Products. I find that when revenues go down, so do budgets for services and products. If you find that this is true for your customers as well, you should look into ways at delivering the information that your customers need at a lower price point.

Once you find out the new topics that your target market is interested in, create products on these topics. You can create products such as e-books, teleseminars and audio recordings. When your potential customers do not have enough money in their budgets to afford your services, offer these products to them instead.

- Be More Creative With Your Marketing. As it is harder to find clients, you need to become more creative with marketing methods that you use. So once you create your products don't just use one online marketing method. Use many different ones in order to bring in more buyers to your products.

For example, online social networking is very hot right now. Explore how you can use social networking to promote your products. In addition to social networking, I find article marketing, search engine optimization and blogging to be great tools to promote products.

Get started today by putting the above plan into motion. Doing this will help you get more clients in the current economy.
