Three Tips For A More Effective Blog

Friday, June 24th, 2011

Have you just started blogging? Or have you been blogging for a while? A blog is an excellent tool to let the world know about your business, to connect with people in your target market and promote your expertise.

Do you want to use your blog to get even more results – promote your expertise more, connect with more people in your target market, get more traffic and build your list faster? Here are three tips to help you make your blog more effective:

Blog Consistently. Many business owners get excited about blogging, post 3-6 times, and then promptly forget about the blog. I have seen many blogs that were started a year or two ago, have a grand total of five posts, and haven’t been updated since sometime last year.

To get more traffic and more newsletter subscribers with your blog, you need to update your blog on a regular basis. Search engines love new content and keep coming back to index it. Potential customers also like new content; it’s what keeps them coming back to read your blog.

Use Search Engine Optimization To Optimize Each Blog Post. The purpose of your blog is to invite people who are in your target market to read your posts and enter your sphere of influence. Traffic from search engines does not cost any money, and it is a great way to get potential customers to your blog.

Treat each one of your blog posts as a separate file to be optimized for search engines. Use a keyword research tool to find phrases that are related to the main subject of the post, and weave them into the content of the post.

Build Your List With Your Blog. One of the best ways to use your blog to market your business is by using your blog to build your list. Make sure that you have information about the no charge gift that you are giving away to your newsletter subscribers on your blog. That way your blog readers will learn about it when they are reading the blog, and will be able to subscribe to your
newsletter.

How To Make A Difference

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Did you get into business to make a difference in your clients’ lives and help them reach their goals and improve their lives? But did those goals somehow get lost after all the marketing, blogging, social networking and everything else you have been doing lately to promote your business and get clients?

I have great news for you! You can use marketing to make a difference for people in your target market. When you market effectively and authentically, both you and the people in your target market benefit! Marketing does not have to be a you-win, and they-lose situation. When you apply online marketing techniques authentically and effectively, you turn your marketing into a win-win. You win and people in your target market win! Here is how:

– Make A Difference With Article Marketing. When you are writing articles to submit to article directories, ask yourself — “how can I write effective articles that make a difference in my clients’ lives and at the same time demonstrate my knowledge and expertise?”

Share information that people need and you will help them, while demonstrating your expertise and knowledge at the same time.

– Make A Difference With Your Blog. Why do people come to your blog? They want to learn from you, and yes, they want to learn something that will help them improve their lives.

Use your blog to share tips and information that help people in your target market to improve their lives and reach their goals.

– Make A Difference With Social Networking Web Sites. This is one of the easiest methods to share and to help people in your target market. Use social networking web sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, to connect with people in your target market and to share your tips with them.

Bonus: since you are already writing articles and blogging, share your articles and blog posts on social networking web sites. That way you will share your expertise and help more people at the same time.

– Make A Difference With Your Products And Programs. When you create products and programs, create products and programs that are of the most value to the people in your target market and that help them improve their lives and reach their goals. Blogging Tips: Three Blogging Mistakes You Are Making Right Now

Monday, May 24th, 2010

During the years, I have had many service professionals tell me that they are not able to get more newsletter subscribers from their blogs. They spend a lot of time on researching their blog posts, writing their blog posts and promoting their blog. However, they are not seeing anyone who visits their blog subscribing to their newsletter.

Why is that? Why are the service professionals spending a lot of time and effort on their blogging, but are still not able to get newsletter subscribers from it? I have reviewed many service professionals’ blogs, and what I find is that many of them make one (or more than one) of these three blogging mistakes. If you are not getting newsletter subscribers from your blog, take a look at these mistakes, and see if you are making any one of them:

Mistake #1: You Are Not Blogging On The Subjects That Are Of Interest To Your Target Market.

When service professionals blog, many of them blog on the topics that are of interest to them. As a result, their blog posts are of interest to them and to some of their colleagues with similar interests, but not to the people they actually want to attract to their blogs, people in their target market.

Blogging on topics of interest to people in your target market is extremely important. When you talk about things that are of interest to people in your target market, you will get more traffic to your blog, and you will get more newsletter subscribers.

Mistake #2: You Are Not Inviting More Traffic To Your Blog.

Can you right now, off the top of your head, name at least three different marketing methods that you are using to invite more traffic to your blog?

If the answer is “no”, than you should immediately start looking for more sources for attracting more traffic to your blog. Bringing traffic to your blog is very important. If no one comes to your blog and no one is reading your blog posts, than no one will be subscribing to your newsletter.

Get started with bringing more traffic to your blog right now. Some of the best techniques to do that are social networking, article marketing and search engine optimization.

Mistake #3: You Are Not Asking People Who Come To Your Blog To Take Action.

I have seen many great looking blogs that share lots of useful information with their readers. The readers come to the blog, and they really enjoy reading the blog. But then they leave, without taking action.

Why is that? This is because the bloggers haven’t asked their readers to take action. If you want your blog readers to do something, you need to ask them to do that. So if you want your blog readers to subscribe to your newsletter, you should ask them to do that.

Top Three Strategies To Grow Your List

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

A lot of people have been asking me how they can start growing their lists TODAY – what are the actions that they can take today to start growing their lists immediately.

Here are my top three strategies to help you invite more people to your list. Start using them today and you will see more people joining your list:

Strategy #1: Article Marketing

I love using article marketing for list building. It is effective, it works great and you can use it to invite exactly people you want to invite to your list! How do you do that? By writing articles on topics that are of interest to people that you want to invite to your list.

What is article marketing? Article marketing is the process of writing articles that people in your target market are interested in reading and then submitting them to article directories to be published. It is extremely important to write articles that are of interest to your target market, because that is another way to qualify your subscribers. When the topic of your article is of interest to people in your target market, people in your target market will read your articles and find out more about your newsletter.

When you submit your article to directories, your article will also include a Resource Box. Your Resource Box is a one-paragraph description of you and your business and a link back to your web site. Use the Resource Box to invite your article readers to get your free gift and join your list!

Strategy #2: Social Networking

Social networking web sites, such as Facebook and Twitter are great for inviting people in your target market to join your list.

In order to invite more people from social networking web sites to join your list, first you need to have an effective profile page. If you do not have any information about your newsletter in your profile, how are people going to even know that you have a newsletter?

Next, you need to get involved, become visible and start building relationships with people you meet on those social networking web sites. If you are invisible on social networking web sites, people will not be able to sign up for your newsletter. When you are visible, you will get many more subscribers.

And then, make sure to share about your free gift using your social networking updates. Your profile is not the only place to let people know about your free gift. People should also hear about your free gift from your status updates on Facebook and your tweets on Twitter.

Strategy #3: Blogging

Blogging is another great technique to use to invite more people to your list. There are a ton of things you can do with your blog to bring more subscribers to your list.

First, your blog itself should contain information about your newsletter and your free gift. If you don’t tell your blog readers about your newsletter, how do you expect them to ever subscribe? Make sure that your blog has at least some information about your newsletter.

Your blog posts themselves are also very important for inviting people to your list. Remember – you will write your blog post once and it will be seen by people and search engines for a very long time. This means that if you write an interesting blog post and it gets indexed by search engines, you will be able to gain blog visitors and newsletter subscribers from the same blog post for a long period of time.

Use search engine optimization each time you write a blog post. Research keywords and find effective ones to use in your post. Then use the keywords in your blog posts, so that your blog posts can be indexed in search engines for the relevant topics and you can get traffic. Each time someone finds your blog post in search engines, they will be able to read your post and find out about your free gift and your newsletter!

This is just one blog post. Optimize each blog post that you write and you will start getting more traffic from search engines to your blog.

Does The Way You View Blogging Prevent You From Getting Clients?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

Too many women service professionals view their blog as an outlet for sharing their thoughts and their knowledge. And that’s it. And usually out views become our realities, so if the way you view your blog is an outlet for your thoughts and your knowledge, than this is what it is going to be.

But if you also want to attract clients with your blog, you need to start viewing your blog and your blog posts differently.

You need to view your blog as a tool that you use for both sharing your thoughts and your knowledge AND for authentically inviting your potential clients to learn more about your business.

To do that, first, use your blog to share – you share your knowledge, you share information, you share your expertise. You need to share exactly what your target market needs, your knowledge, your information and your expertise. But you are not doing a good job sharing EVERYTHING that your target market needs, if you do not share information about your products and services.

When someone comes to your blog and reads your blog post, there are two possible outcomes:

1) Your blog post has helped them solve the problem they were having, and they are happy about that. This is great, this is one of the reasons you are blogging, you want to help your target market solve their problems!

2) But more often than that your target market wants more. After people in your target market have read your blog post, they want to know how what you are sharing and teaching can apply to them, to their lives, to their businesses, to solving their problems. And in order to learn that, they will start looking for help from you, which means they will start looking for your products and services.

They may be immediately interested in what you have to offer, or they may be interested in working with you at a later date. If they want your help right now, then they are looking to learn about your products and services. If they need help at a later date, they want to get your free gift and sign up for your list.

Now, what if they are looking for how you can help them, but your blog does not list any of this information? In this case it is actually a DISSERVICE that you are doing to your target market by not providing information about your newsletter and your products and services on your blog.

So revolutionize how you are thinking about your blog. Once you start using your blog to both SHARE information and SHARE about your products and services, you are going to create much more awareness about your business. And awareness leads to more engagement from your blog readers and engagement leads to more clients. When your blog readers know you and when they know what you offerings are, they are much more likely to do business with you.

Want To Get Clients With Your Blog? Revolutionize Your Blogging!

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

So you want to attract your perfect service clients with your blog. But you can’t attract your perfect clients until you know exactly who those perfect clients are. Who are the people you want to read your blog, find a great fit with what you are saying and contact you about becoming your clients?

Once you start defining the people who you want to attract with your blog, remember that the more narrow your definition is for your perfect clients, the better.

When you say your perfect clients are “women who run a business” or “women who have children” or “women who have corporate jobs” or “women who are looking for change in their lives”, it is going to be hard to find your perfect clients.

Why is that? Because there are too many “women looking for a change”, for example, and they are all looking for different changes. If your target market are “women looking for a change”, you will never be able to blog about things of interest to your target market because there are too many changes that women are looking for. For example:

– For one woman a change is a promotion

– For another woman a change is finding a better career

– For yet another one it could be marriage

You can’t possibly blog about all of these changes and attract all of these women to your blog – there are way too many differences and variations of what they are looking to achieve.

And this is the #1 mistake that I see so many coaches make. Their target market is not defined well enough and narrow enough, so when they start blogging, they can’t find good topics to blog about. And, as a result, they can’t bring clients to their business because they can’t blog about the topics that are of real interest to their target market.

On the other hand, if you define your target market as women in their 40s looking to get promoted, you will have a much more narrow market and you can blog on the topic much more effectively.

How To Get Clients With Your Blog

In order to get clients with your blog, the first step that you have to take is to define exactly who your potential clients are. Who are they? What do they do? Are they men or women or both? What do they do for a living? What do they like to do for fun?

Once you know exactly who your potential clients are, it will become much easier to find topics to blog about. What you want to blog about is what is of interest to your target market. What kind of problems does your target market have? Share solutions to those problems!

Discover The Most Important Action You Want Your Blog Readers To Take

Discover The Most Important Action You Want Your Blog Readers To Take

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

So you have people coming to your blog and reading it. Most women service professionals think that’s it – people come to read your blog posts, and at some point this traffic will magically turn into clients.

When that does not happen, many service professionals decide that you just can’t attract clients with blogging, so they start just abandon blogging altogether. And this is a shame, because blogging is great for authentically sharing your gifts and attracting clients.

I am on a mission to help you attract clients with your blog. And the first step you must take to attract more clients with your blog is to ask yourself this question:

What action do you want your blog readers to take?

Choose just one action that you want your blog readers to take. What do you want this action to be?

What do you want to happen after they read your blog post, enjoy what they have read and want to learn more about what you have to offer?

You want your blog readers to take the next step with you by subscribing to your newsletter!

Why is that? This is because when people come to your blog, you want to start building a relationship with them. The best way to do that is by asking them to subscribe to your newsletter, because your newsletter is the best tool for connecting with them on a regular basis, building relationships and let them know about your products and services.

Every time I talk about newsletters, someone always asks me:

Aren’t people saying that newsletters are dead?

Shouldn’t you use RSS and social networking web sites to keep in touch with people and not newsletters?

Well, your newsletter is actually the BEST tool for building relationships with people in your target market. When people get on your list, you are able to contact them, share tips and ideas with them, and let them know about your events, products and services.

When people come to your blog – from search engines, social networking web sites, article directories, or if they find your blog from some other sources – chances are, they will not come back to your blog or to your business unless they get on your list and start hearing from you on a regular basis. So unless they get on your list, you will not be able to keep building a relationship with them. This means it is EXTREMELY important to use your blog get them on your list.

Add your newsletter sign-up box to your blog!

The best way to invite your blog readers to subscribe to your newsletter is by making your subscription box very visible. Put it in the header of your blog, on top of one of your menu, etc – make it visible, so that your blog readers are able to get on your list!

How To Get Clients By Being Authentic On Your Blog

Are you looking for a way to bring target customers to your business while using your authentic voice? Many coaches and other service professionals have told me that they feel that the only way to get clients is to adopt the marketing methods of a used car salesman. They feel they have to change themselves and their approach and adopt hard-sell sales techniques to bring in clients.

Fortunately for all of us, this is not true. You can remain true to your authentic self and still have a thriving business with all the clients you can handle.

You can speak in your authentic voice and get clients – what can be better? One of the best ways to do this is to have your own blog and post new entries consistently. Here is how:

Your blog posts can be written in a conversational style, rather than the more formal style that the rest of your web site is written in. When you are blogging, simply imagine that you are talking to your readers and let your authentic self shine through.

When you talk to your blog readers they feel more connected to you and are more likely to become your clients as a result.

Use your blog to tell stories. Your blog is the perfect place to tell stories that illustrate what you do. Such stories might not be appropriate for the rest of your web site, but they are perfect to share on your blog.

For example, is there a popular story in the press right now that you can relate to your products and services? Did you hear an interesting anecdote that illustrates a point that you want to share with potential clients?

A great story helps you share with your potential clients and at the same time spotlight your business, products and services.

Offer your blog readers a gift. What can be more helpful, authentic and professional than helping your potential customers with a problem they are experiencing? Your potential customers need help with problems they are trying to solve. Your blog is an excellent tool for you to help your potential customers do just that.

Create a gift that your potential customers crave. This gift should solve a problem that your potential customers are experiencing and desperately need help with. Package your gift as a special report, e-book or audio recording so that you can create the gift once and give it out to thousands of people.

Once you have the gift ready, offer it to your blog readers in exchange for subscribing to your newsletter. Doing this will help you build a list of potential customers that you can contact and market to on a regular basis.

As you can see, you can use your authenticity to get clients! Use the above advice today and start attracting more clients to your business.

Are you wondering whether running a blog is worth your time and effort? The answer is yes. Your blog is an excellent tool to get leads and clients for your service business.

Here is how to create a plan that will turn your blog into an effective tool that will drive potential clients to your business 24/7:

Define Goals For Your Blog

Since you are a service business owner, your goals are to become more known to your target market, attract more newsletter subscribers, and attract clients to your business.

Pick Good Blogging Software

Blogging starts with choosing blogging software that’s right for you. Evaluate a few different options before deciding on the one that is right for you.

Find Topics That Your Target Market Wants To Read About

Since your goals for your blog include using your blog as a tool to get clients and newsletter subscribers, your target market has to be interested in reading your blog posts. Do research through online social networks and search engines to find topics that your target market would like to read about.

Always write blog posts that are of interest to your target market.

Bring Traffic To Your Blog

Just writing posts on your blog isn’t going to do much to improve your visibility and to get more clients. To get benefits from blogging, you need to create a strategy to bring traffic to your blog.

Some ideas for bringing traffic to your blog include search engine optimization, social networking sites, article marketing, commenting on other blogs and more.

Convert Blog Traffic Into Clients

Just bringing traffic to your blog is not enough. You need to get people who come to your blog to take action with you! In addition to bringing traffic to your blog you need to have a procedure in place for turning your blog readers into clients.

Follow the five steps above to turn your blog into a tool for getting clients. Once you have a step-by-step strategy to bring your target market to your blog and turn it into clients, you will be able to get more clients for your business.
