How To Write Landing Pages For Products

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Have you seen those one-page web sites that are created with one purpose – to sell a product to a particular audience? Typically they are long sales pages discussing just one particular product.

I am sure you have seen these one-page web sites offering free reports or other free products in exchange for your e-mail address. But how do you create a page like that to see a for-fee product? In order to do this successfully, your web site should have a good sales letter that can sell your product to your target audience.

You can hire someone else to write you sales copy, but I strongly recommend to my clients to learn how to write your own sales letters. This way you will be able to tweak your sales letter and write sales letters for your future products.

Here are some tips for you for creating landing pages for your products:

Before Writing Your Web Copy, Do Research To Understand Your Target Market. Since the goal of your sales copy is to get your customers to buy your product, you need to spend some time understanding the needs of your target market.

Use the information in your sales copy by showing your potential buyers how your product is going to give them what they need.

In Your Sales Copy, Concentrate On Your Customers’ Benefits. Your customers want to know how your product will benefit them. Use your copy to communicate the benefits to your potential customers. This is one of the best ways to turn potential customers into actual customers.

Make Your Sales Copy Easy To Read. Write in short paragraphs and separate your paragraphs with plenty of white space.

Make Good Use Of Headlines. Not everyone is going to read everything you have written in your sales copy. The majority of readers just skim sales letters. However, more people are going to read your headlines, as opposed to text, because they are written in bigger font.

Test! Test! Test! Don’t just use the first sales copy you create. You should constantly test your sales copy in order to find the elements that helps you convert more visitors into buyers.

Three Tips For A Better Landing Page

Monday, April 14th, 2008

One of the most important concepts in online marketing is a landing page. A landing page is a page where your visitor lands to do something. It could be a page where your web site visitor lands following a link from your PPC ad. It could be a page where your web site visitor lands to purchase your ebook. In short, it is a page, where your web site visitor comes to take action.

The best rule to remember about a landing page is one action – one page. What is an action? An action is the action you want your web site visitor to take on the landing page. The action can be subscribing to your newsletter, buying an e-book or registesting for a telseminar.

The most successful landing pages don’t try to be all things to all people. Rather, they concentrate on getting a user to take one action and one action only. When someone lands on a landing page like that, they only have two options – take action or leave.

So, what about your landing pages? If your landing pages are not producing results, it is time to take action!

Review your landing page. Are you only asking your web site visitors to take one action per page? If you are asking them to take more than one action, make a change to ask them take just one action.

When I helped a client change her landing page for a teleseminar to only have one available action to take, she was able to double her sign-ups!

Review your web copy. The sales copy on your landing page is very important as well. Does it convince your web site visitor to take action? If not, you need to improve your sales copy to make it convince your visitor to take action.

Review your marketing. How do you promote your landing page? Do your promotions help you qualify your visitors, so that the ones who do come to your landing page are already targeted customers?

Two Things That Your Web Site MUST Do

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

There are two things that your web site must do:

1. It needs to attract your target market. In order to do this, you will need to optimize your web site for search engines, use article marketing to get people to come to your web site, etc.

Read more on how to get web site traffic in the Online Marketing Techniques To Increase Website Traffic article.

2. Your web site needs to SELL your products and services. In order to be successful at selling, your web site will need to be very user-friendly, so that people stay and read it for a while.

It needs to have good marketing copy that sells, so that your web site visitors would purchase from you.

It also needs to turn your web site visitors into leads by giving them a no charge gift and asking them to subscribe to your newsletter.

Make sure that your web site does both, it brings traffic AND it converts traffic into customers.

If your web site does just gets people to your web site, you will have lots of traffic, but no one will be buying.

If your web site can sell, but can’t get traffic, you will have no one to sell to.

Online Copywriting: How To Create Effective Web Site Copy

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

When your potential customers visit your web site you can’t be there to talk to them, answer their questions and convince them to buy your products. The only thing that they can go by to make a decision to hire or not to hire you is your web site copy.

Because of this it is extremely important to have extremely effective web site copy. When you are selling your products and services online, your copy is the only thing that will convince your potential customers to buy from you. On the other hand, if your copy is not effective, it will make your potential customers visit your competitors’ web sites…

Are You Providing Value?

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Do you show value of your products and services when you are selling them online?

You need to ALWAYS show value of what you are selling – whether it is a $7 report or a $5,000 one-on-one coaching package. Whether you only sell products, or you charge per hour, per minute, per project, per pound lost, etc, you need to show the VALUE of what you are offering. No one is going to give you even a dollar if they don’t think that what you offer has value for them.

And this is very true when you are doing business online. You are not “there” when your potential customers are visiting your web site, so the only way they can find out about the value that you offer them is by reading your web copy. If you web copy is not communicating the value that you offer, your potential customers will go elsewhere.

I did an experiment a while ago, where I had a low cost product (under $10) for which I created very short copy. The copy described the product, but not the product’s benefits. The product sold just a few copies.

Another product on the same topic was more expensive, but it had more web copy written for it, discussing the value and benefits in addition to describing the product.

I sent a lot of traffic to both products. The second product sold many more copies.

Consumers need to know what value they are going to receive when they buy your products or services. It is not the price alone that the consumers are after. You have to explain the value of the product well enough, so that your consumers understand the value of what you are getting, no matter how you are charging.

Cannoli And Marketing

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

Both my husband and I love cooking and entertaining. So when we had friends over for dinner a few weeks ago, we cooked the whole dinner from scratch. We made roasted eggplant and red peppers with fresh basil and garlic as an appetizer. The entree was chicken parmesan with pasta and we made a great summer salad to go with it. Our guests loved our cooking!

Dessert is a whole different thing, though. Neither one of us likes to bake or make dessert (we like to eat it, though), so for dessert we had excellent cannoli from my favorite bakery.

While we can cook tasty meals and enjoy doing it, we know that we don’t like baking. When it comes to dessert we outsource it to someone who knows how to do it and can do it better than we can. And by doing this we can concentrate on things we enjoy, such as cooking and spending time with our guests, while knowing that we had great cannoli waiting for us for dessert.

To get best results for your business, it is important to define exactly what you are an expert at and promote your expertise. Discover how to promote your expertise by teaching, join me for the Make Thousands Of Dollars With Teleseminars Series that starts on August 1st.

Are Sales Letters Effective?

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Many coaches, consultants and other service business owners have asked me if sales letters and product sales letters are effective.
I am sure you have seen sales letters written to promote ebooks, teleseminars and other information products. Sales letters / sales pages are extremely effective. You can make your sales letter a part of your larget web site, or you can buy a whole new domain just to sell a new product. For example, your sales letter is for something not completely related to your main web site or a separate free offer, I would put it on a new web site.

If it is for a product, and you have similar products on your web site, I would just put them together on the same web site.

I always recommend to my clients to learn how to write their own sales letters. You know your products better then anyone else, so you will be able to write the best sales letter for them.

Also, once you know how to write one sales letter, you know how to write them all. This means that you will be able to write sales letters for all of your products and services.

Work Less, Make More Money

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Hi,

Do you want to work less, while making more money?

Did you start it to own a business, make more money and work flexible hours? But are you working longer hours, enjoying less free time and earning less money instead?

Does This Describe Your Life?

You can’t afford to take time off. If you took time off, you wouldn’t be getting paid, and you can’t afford to take a week or two off without pay. You always feel like you need to be generating revenue, or doing something that will lay the groundwork to generate revenue.

You are working weekends and holidays. A Sunday is the same as a Tuesday when you’re trying to meet project deadlines.

You have been missing your kids’ sporting events and recitals, because you have clients’ appointments at the same time, and you cannot afford to miss out on the
revenue opportunities

This is vicious cycle – you believe you need to work all the time, because if you stop working, your revenue will dry up.

I experienced all of this first-hand. Back in the 1990’s I started doing consulting because I wanted to run my own business, be my own boss, and have flexible hours. Instead, I worked very long hours, worked every weekend, and had absolutely no free time. After a while, I was exhausted, and was considering not having my own business at all.

Eventually, I took some time off to think to restructure my business. I decided that when I went back to my business, I wanted to work flexible hours, take weekends off, be able
to go on vacation and have lots of time to spend with family and friends.

I realized that the only way I could have a profitable business and still enjoy flexible hours and quality of life was by creating multiple streams of income.

I will be teaching everything I have learned about multiplestreams of income — all of the techniques I’ve polished and skills I’ve honed — during the How To Profit From Information Products Teleseminar Series. How To Increase Your Product Sales

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

There are two ways to increase your product sales:

1. Get more of your existing web site visitors to buy.

2. Drive more targeted web site visitors to your web site.

I would recommend doing both. Let’s see how:

1. There are many things you can do to increase sales to existing web site visitors:

Make it easy for your web site visitors to find products they need. You can do that by having a professional and user-friendly web site.

Make a compelling case for buying your products. Once your web site visitors find the products they need, you need to convince them that they have to buy your products. You do that by writing compelling web copy and sales letters.

Make the checkout process easy. Even if a buyer thinks that she needs your products, she will leave your web site if the checkout process confuses her. Make the process as easy as possible.

2. Here is how you can drive more targeted web site visitors to your web site:

By publishing your newsletter on a regular basis, and using it to drive your readers to your products pages. A newsletter is a great way to keep in touch with potential customers and increase your product sales.

By doing search engine optimization and making sure that your products can be found in search engines. I have traced many of my own products sales to people finding them in search engines and buying them – this is a very powerful way to get new customers.

By doing article marketing. Another one of my favorite marketing techniques. Many of my articles have been re-printed on various blogs and web sites, which increased my name recognition and sent many web site visitors to my web site.

I also recommend business blogging, holding free teleseminars and events and online networking to get more web site visitors.

The FREE Tutorial, How To Market Your Coaching Business discusses, step-by-step, how to use different online marketing methods to market your coaching business and sell more of your products online.
