The Best Technique To Sell More Books And Ebooks

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Many people have asked me – what is the best marketing technique to use to sell more books? If I start blogging, will I sell more books next week? Will article marketing sell 100 more copies of my ebooks?

Truth is, no marketing technique – blogging, search engine optimization, article marketing or any other one – will increase your sales immediately.

What you need to find out is how a particular marketing technique will fit into your overall marketing plan.

Many marketing techniques are designed to bring people interested in what you do to your web site. However, those techniques don’t account for what happens AFTER you bring them to your web site.

If you do absolutely nothing in addition to blogging, people will come to your blog, read it, linger for a bit and leave. This is because there will not be any incentive for them to stick around.

People are bombarded with tons of marketing messages every day. Many of your blog visitors will forget about your blog and its address two minutes after they leave it.

Therefore, it is imperative to make sure that you can collect the e-mail addresses of people who visit your blog. If you can get their e-mail address, you will be able to e-mail them, market to them, and sell your books to them long after they have visited your blog.

You should do this with every marketing technique you use – figure out how to use it to add people to your list, so that you can continue to market to them long after they have visited your web site.

Next week I am teaching a free teleseminar, 5 Steps To Selling More Copies Of Your Book Or Ebook.
I will be talking about creating a marketing plan to promote your book online and get more sales. You can register for the teleseminar FREE at https://www.avocadoconsulting.com/books.html

How Long Should Your Articles Be?

Friday, September 7th, 2007

So what is the best size for an article that you can use to market your business?
Is it really important to have a very lengthy article? Will your clients only hire you if your article is longer than someone’s PhD dissertation? Will your clients actually read an entire article if it is over 10 pages in length?

It is not extremely important to have a very lengthy article. Of course, a very short article, such as 2-3 paragraphs will not do. In fact, many article directories have minimums when it comes to article length, and they will not post your article if it is too short.

However, it is also not good to have a very long article. While you may have a lot of knowledge to share, a very long article is too much for your readers to read. If you started writing articles and you have too much material for one article, split the material, write two articles and get double the exposure :)

So what size should your article be? A page to a page to a page and a half is best. Some article directories do not accept articles that are under 500 words, so you want to be a bit above that.

Use Article Marketing To Get Online Publicity

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

I find that using article marketing has been the best way for me to get more publicity, get published on other people’s blogs and in newsletters, get more web site traffic, newsletter subscribers and clients.

Article marketing is very simple – in order to use it you need to write an article, use it on your web site and submit it to article directories. Each one of your articles can go a long way to help you promote your expertise and get online publicity for your business.

Here is how you can use just one article to get online publicity. You can (and should) repeat this process with many articles to multiply your publicity.

Publish the article in your newsletter. By doing this you share your knowledge and expertise with your newsletter subscribers. Then, when they need help in your field of expertise, they are likely to hire you.

Create a resource box that maximizes the number of leads you can get. To do that, make sure that your Resource Box invites people who are reading the article to subscribe to your newsletter.

Use your article on your web site to get additional search engine traffic to your web site.

Submit your article to directories and aggregators. By doing this you are offering your article for reprint to other people, who are going to reprint it on their web sites and their blogs, thus providing you with more online publicity. When your article appears on their blogs and web sites, your name and expertise are exposed to more members of your target market.

Find other people who cater to your target market and accept guest articles in their newsletter, blog and on their web sites. Ask them to include your article. This way people who visit their web site and read their newsletter can learn about your business.

Writing For Coaches

Thursday, July 26th, 2007

Are you a coach? Are you writing articles, ebooks and reports?
Writing is an extremely powerful technique for a coach to use. We can write articles, create information products and promote ourselves in other ways using writing.

Here is an effective process I recommend to create your own articles:

Keep a running list of article topics. You may think of an article topics at all times – at the grocery store, while speaking to a client, when exercising, watching TV, etc. These are not good times to write the actual article, but you should write down the topic.

When you are ready to write an article, you already have a list of topics. Having the list saves you a lot of time that you can spend on the actual writing. Just pick a topic and start writing!

Remove the distractions when you write – don’t check your e-mail, let the phone calls go to voicemail, etc. Spend the time writing, and you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish in 40-50 minutes or uninterrupted writing.

Getting Clients For A New Coaching Business

Saturday, May 5th, 2007

If you are a new coach who is just starting out, how can you get your business off the ground?
This is a question that I receive very frequently. I am an online business coach, and about 98% of my clients come to me through my online marketing efforts. They come to me through:

– My newsletter. I publish a very popular weekly online marketing newsletter.

– My articles. I have published many articles online, and they have been reprinted on hundreds of blogs and web sites. I receive many e-mails every week from people who found out about me through my articles.

– Search engines. My web site is optimized for search engines and I receive a lot of search engine traffic.

– Online networking. I have met many of my clients through my online networking efforts.
Since you are just starting out, here is what I recommend you do:

Define your target market. This step is extremely important – without defining your target market you will not be able to market your business effectively.

Create an effective web site that will attract your target market.

Start a newsletter and publish it on a regular basis.

Start using online marketing techniques, one by one, to bring in web site traffic and customers. You should use article marketing, search engine optimization, business blogging, online networking and other techniques.

In my Complete Step by Step Online Marketing Course I discuss, step-by-step, how to use different online marketing techniques to get more web site traffic and customers.

Article Marketing Or Web Site? What To Do First?

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Should you start a newsletter and article marketing before you launch your web site, or should you wait to start them until your web site is done?

I usually recommend to my clients to launch a web site first, then the newsletter and then start marketing by using article marketing, business blogging, search engine optimization and other techniques.

The reason I recommend this order is because you want your newsletter subscribers, article readers, blog readers, etc to visit your web site, learn about your products and services and buy them. People have to be able to check out information about your products and services without too much pressure, and this is what your web site will
do for them.

You may start the newsletter before the web site, but then you will not have a web site to send the potential buyers to.

And you should not use article marketing before having a web site. The main benefit of
using article marketing to promote your business is that your article resource box links back to your web site. If you do not have a web site, you will be missing on this huge benefit.

How Coaches Can Get Clients Online

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Need information on getting clients for your coaching business online? I have helped hundreds of coaches and solopreneurs create a virtual online practice, and here is what I recommend:

Clearly Define Your Target Market. Who do you want to coach? Who is your ideal coaching client? Before doing anything else, you need to know exactly who your coaching clients are, what they do for a living, etc. Without knowing this it will be very hard for you to market your coaching business online.

Create An Effective Web Site For Your Coaching Business. Before you even start marketing, make sure that your web site is user-friendly and that it attracts your target customers.

Start A Newsletter For Your Business. Not everyone who comes to your web site is going to hire you immediately. And once the customers leave your web site, they will forget about it.

The only way to have them remember who you are is by keeping in touch with them on a regular basis. You can do that by having a newsletter, and asking your web site visitors to subscribe to it.

Use Online Marketing Techniques To Drive Your Potential Coaching Clients To Your Web Site. Now that you know who your target market is, your web site is ready with a good marketing message, and you have a newsletter, it’s time to start driving traffic to your web site and get customers.

Use article marketing, online networking, business blogging, search engine optimization and other online marketing techniques to drive your perfect clients to your web site.
