How to Use Networking for Business Development

So, you want to use networking for business development. Let’s see how you can do that to get more clients for your business:

– Network in groups and in communities where your target market also networks.

– Don’t sell; instead, create connections with people. Networking is a process, and not a one time event. Don’t expect to get business immediately; it will come gradually, as you are networking and building connections.

– Keep in touch. I get business and referrals from people I have been networking with for a long time. As you build a business relationship you also build trust, and when people trust you, they send you business.

– Networking is a two-way street. Ask what you can do for people you network with before you ask for referrals.

As much as I enjoy networking, however, I would not use only networking for business development. I would recommend that you also look into other marketing methods – search engine optimization, business blogging, newsletter publishing, article writing, PR, etc. I have written many articles on both networking and marketing that you can read to brush up on your marketing and networking stills.
